Parents, students and teachers filled the cafeteria at Klondike Elementary School for Family Fitness night to pose, stretch and breathe deep. The first session of yoga had everyone getting warmed up for a night of exercise.
The Parent Involvement Committee organized the event that included different fitness stations and bracelets that say "Nugget Power." "Nugget Power is a phrase that my kindergarten team and I use to help build confidence and teamwork," says teacher Jennifer Varga.
The next station had everyone's hearts pumping doing Zumba and ended with time for other activates like shooting hoops or playing corn hole. The event ties in nicely to INtegrate, a state-wide wellness initiative adopted by the TSC. The program encourages employees and students to make healthier choices like drinking more water and being more active.
Watch for information about Family Game Night coming in January. It will be an opportunity for families to spend time together playing various board games and engaging in fun activities.
