Tippecanoe School Corporation
TSC names 2022 Teachers of the Year
Sue Scott

The Tippecanoe School Corporation has named Kelli Waggoner as the TSC Elementary Teacher of the Year and Amanda Beck as the TSC Secondary Teacher of the Year.

Waggoner is an art teacher at Klondike Elementary School. She has been teaching for 20 years and has a bachelor's degree from Ball State University. Principal Scott Peters says Mrs. Waggoner welcomes more than 1,000 student artists into her classroom where they learn to appreciate and create art. “Children learn to create masterpieces using clay, yarn, oil pastels, watercolors and a variety of other media,” says Peters. “She thinks outside the box to enrich, remediate and support the diverse learning needs in her classroom and helps all students become successful artists.”

Beck has taught German at Harrison High School for 14 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Valparaiso University and a master’s degree with Indiana Wesleyan University. Principal Cory Marshall says Beck works with students at varying ability levels: “She is skillful at helping struggling students to understand important concepts, as well as challenge the most advanced students. In her classes, every student feels valued and important.”

A committee selected the two winners from a field of 19 building-level winners (listed below). Waggoner and Beck will represent TSC in the Indiana 2023 Teacher of the Year program.
