While students are out on summer break, hundreds of teachers gathered to learn more about how to enhance learning through technology at the annual Lafayette Regional eLearning Conference at Sunnyside Intermediate School. The event provides attendees with new strategies and tools for incorporating technology into classroom instruction. Sessions include how to engage students with Bimoji learning rooms, digital tools for struggling readers, assisted tech support for all students and Minecraft for middle school.

“The Lafayette-area has been missing this conference the last few years and it's so nice to finally be back together," says TSC Coordinator of Connected Learning Sarah Margeson. “The opening keynote felt like a breath of fresh air and we're so grateful for the opportunity to offer such wonderful sessions to our teachers."

This year the conference nominated local teachers for the Candice Dodson EdTech Innovator Award. Candice played an integral role in creating these conferences over 10 years ago. Several TSC teachers were nominated including Barb Tilley from Mintonye Elementary School, Karmen Schoch of Wea Ridge Elementary School, Jodi McClure from Battle Ground, East Tipp and Klondike Middle Schools, and Susie Sherlow of McCutcheon High School.

The conference is a collaboration of Lafayette, North Montgomery, Twin Lakes and Tippecanoe School Corporations, the Purdue College of Education and Wabash Valley Education Center. The event is partially funded by grants from the Indiana Department of Education and provides high-quality professional development for educators.
